How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I depend on small scale farming to earn income to support my family.I also I run a small business. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family including paying school fees for my children. Currently I own a dairy cow and I get enough milk for my family. I sell the extra milk at the market to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. I have devoted much of my time on this project. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has improved our living standard and given us hope to work much easier than before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on buying a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me, I found it wise to invest on this. The rest of the money I bought food for the family and boosted my small business. I am so grateful for the support because it has enabled us to own assets which could have taken quite some time to get.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited and my children were also excited. They asked me to go buy a cow as soon as possible as that is what they have been looking forward to.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have always wanted to own a cow and avoid buying milk. My children used to sleep in the kitchen and now that I extended a room for them, they are so excited that they are no longer going to be sleeping in the kitchen where they have to wake up early.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought a cow since I have been buying milk for my children and decided to buy one which is about to calf. I also extended a bedroom for my children. I bought some clothes also for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been depending on small business as my source of income. This has not been enough to cater to my family basic needs like food, school fees, and others. Buying milk every day has not been that easy considering my low income this transfers will assist me to purchase a dairy cow. Its produce will be for domestic use and the surplus I sell to add on my income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The evening is my happiest part of the day. It is at this time because that is the time to rest and enjoy the meal with my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our biggest hardship we have faced in our life is getting money for medication for our son. Since I had no income this was challenging because on the other I was supposed to provide money for food also.
