What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
My priorities are currently changing due to my old age. I would like to be food secure and have a better shelter for myself and my 3 grand children. To achieve this,I will buy 6 goats each at a cost of KES 6500 and build a small decent house worth KES 30000. With these their safety will be paramount because of late they have been sleeping in an open space where they can be attacked by hippopotamus.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite all the pains and struggles of life lately,I have been happy in the past 6 months because of the good health and joy my grandchildren have. They play around me and are not bothered of their sickly mother . My grandchildren have always brought joy into my life because they drive away stress and thoughts that would randomly cross my mind.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The deteriorating health of my last born daughter has given me sleepless nights since the month of August 2024.My daughter a mother of three who separated with her husband 5 years ago was diagnosed with kidney failure early this year.Currently she is hospitalized at Marigat District Hospital. Eliza has been sole provider to me for the past 9 years, since I broke my pelvic bone. Its currently difficult for me to take care of myself as well as her 3 children because I do not have any source of income. My only hope lies on the support from my relatives and the community who also have their own struggles.I am currently living in fear and dispair of what will become of my three grandchildren , I have no strength to work so as to earn money to provide for them or to pay their mother's outstanding bill of KES 25000.
