My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to build a better house for my family. While living in my previous house, I used to get so much stressed during the rainy season. This is because the roof was leaking and I had to constantly move things from one place to another. Constructing another house has given me peace of mind and I can now go on with my daily activities nowadays without having to hurry back home when it rains.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving out financial aid to people and I do not see anything that they do not do well.

When I received my transfer, I spent around KES 10000 to build a granary for my family. I settled on this so that I will always have a safe place to store my farm produce. This is because I had demolished the house that I usually use in storing farm produce and I knew that most of my farm produce will get wasted if I do not build another jose soon. Also, I bought a heifer and a goat at KES 23000 as a way of saving this money. When the dairy cow reproduces, I will earn some money through the sale of milk. Using the remaining amount, I bought some food and clothes for my family.

It was around six in the morning when I had just woken up and my phone rang. Because of my illiteracy, I ran to my daughter in law house who's my helper and she confirmed that I had received my transfers. I was overwhelmed with joy and I lost appetite for breakfast. It was after withdrawing the money that I started cooking. Since then my heart is illuminated with joy because I hadn't received such a lump sum before and I can't GiveDirectly enough.

The biggest difference in my life is building a house which wouldn't be possible before because I couldn't afford. Through GD, my day's are fully packed with lots of activities which is contrary to before when I used to work as a casual laborer in people's farms but now I run out of time to work on my own .Right now, I am now as busy as bee working on completion of my house. After this, I will start weeding my maize farm because they're due for weeding. Before, I would be overwhelmed with stress and wouldn't sleep especially during night fall.I am also happy because I have adequate food stock and no longer hungry like before because I used to beat from to mouth.

I spent three-quarter of my transfer on building a 24 Iron roofed semi permanent house because the one I had was an old worn out grass thatched house. It had leaking roof and I had always been beaten by the night cold and would be forced to move to safe corners whenever it rained. Some was spent on latest clothing fashion because the ones I had were old and tattered second hand clothes. The rest was spent on a maize sack because my maize stock was depleted. Earlier on, I used to feed my family from casual labor which was inadequate most of the times.
