Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Whilst working on my farm, I saw my trustee running to me with information that Givedirectly had sent my money. I dashed my cutlass on the ground and ran to my farm's kitchen with dancing. I was very excited to the extend that I did not continue my farm work that day. I went back home and joined the other villagers whom I met singing and dancing in the town due to the same good news.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before Givedirectly money, I usually begged people to survive. The difference in my daily life is that I now have my own money, and this brings me peace and respect. People are not looking down on me or insulting me like before, I have my own money to even pay people to do things for me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two bundles of zinc to build a new house because family members have overcrowded my old house. I also bought six gallons of gas to start coal business and I paid people to cut my coal sticks- (1200LD for each gallon of gas summing up to 7200Ld). In addition, I paid some men to brush farmland to start a new farm.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Due to the present condition of this house, my plan is to renovate my house when I receive the transfer and also pay my children school fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I'm grateful because I have a house of my own that alone make me happy. But I will be much more happier when I see myself renovating my house.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
One of the major challenge I'm face with my house. The house leaks during the rainy season and presently, I don't have money to carry on renovation. I am a widow with my 2 boys. I have to ask people to help me with farming purpose inorder to have food for me and my 2 sons.
