My main aim and desire was the house that I had started building with the first transfer, because we had been living in a very small house with no enough space for my sizeable family. I had started building it but stalled since the transfer had to be shared appropriately among the needs and challenges that needed to be addressed including food and water especially, as it had been very dry and water so scarce as well as very expensive. Therefore, this second transfer came as a huge boost to the completion of the house, I am so grateful.

In my opinion GiveDirectly did everything well, I was personally able to settle my children's school fees arrears, I got a house as well as food. Most of us got livestock as well which is an occupation and a source of food, especially milk. Everything was done well, and I see no problems or anything that GiveDirectly doesn't or didn't do right.

I spent most of the transfer which was KES 10970 which I added to the money I had saved from the first transfer after having already bought some of the materials I needed for the construction of the house, which had been my main aim and desire. This is because we had been living in a very small house which didn't have enough space for my whole family. I haven't been having an actual job as I was taking care of my livestock and at times clear bushes and thickets for a pay, barely enough to even meet my family's immediate needs. Therefore, this new house has enough space and of family size in which we will be living comfortably and can even host my guests without any worries. I am so happy to have it, now that it's complete and it is a sign of the financial assistance I received from GiveDirectly. I am so grateful.

I learned that I had received my first transfer at around 8 AM when was from the dam with my relatives. I could sense there was some good news since everyone was celebrating and singing while mentioning GiveDirectly. I also could not contain my joy becasue I was certain I would achieve a lot through the money.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a proud owner of goats ad sheep. I have been having the dream of rearing them for a couple of years but this was in vain. This is becasue they were too expensive and the little that I was earning from the casual jobs was only enough for proving food for my family. I opted in keeping them because goats reproduce twice a year and the most encouraging thing is that the offsprings mature faster compared to the other domestic animals. Therefore this gives me hope that in a few months to come I will have many of them and achieve all the goals through them. Forst of all I will be selling the mature offshore and send my children to school who have been missing classes because of fees arrears, Also I will stay on some other projects such as starting a kiosk business. This will uplift my standard of living and a promising future as well.

I spent part of my first transfer on buying livestock which includes some goats and sheep. I have been dreaming to keep them in my compound but I could not afford them becasue they were too more expensive. I later bought building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, timber, and nails. This was for the construction of a new house because the initial one was not spacious. In addition to that, I settled the huge school fees balances for my children who are still in primary schools. With the remaining amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for the family.
