How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different as compared to as it was before GD sent us the transfers. I no longer do casual work to earn a living because I started my own shop business which is my main source of income. I also managed to pay school fee without much difficulty for my daughter who joined secondary school.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion by giving us unconditional cash transfer Give Directly helps in to change our lives as well as to earn a living. Officers From GD who visits us in our houses also takes time to explain to us much about the organisation and also how to keep our money safe.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
We had lived as spouses with my husband for ten years but he had not paid my dowry. We discussed as a household and decided to use most part of the second transfer on dowry and we bought two cows and spent some money on the occasion. My husband is now in good terms with his in-laws; my parents and he has earned their respect and our marriage is sealed and legal as per our traditions. This was one of the biggest menace we solved. I also used some part of the transfer to enroll my daughter in form one and I believe he will fully concentrate in his studies without the fear of being sent home for fee. I also bought iron sheets which I am planning to use in expanding my house built a small house which seems to be smaller now that I added some furniture with my first transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I am now able to do my own business as opposed to relying on casual jobs as a way of feeding my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy when I received the money from the organization because it came at a time when I was financially broke. Through the money, I was able to start a small scale business that has kept me away from the casual jobs I used to do in the past.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
My husband and I used the money to buy two cows that we used to pay my dowry price. We have always longed to pay off the dowry debt but due to limited financial ability, we have never managed to do so.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money has makes me so happy. I will use it to build a bigger, iron roofed house for my family that is well cemented and has a bedroom for my children. Currently I stay in a small house and we share a sleeping area with my children which is not good.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I get to wake up healthy, knowing that the good Lord has seen me through the night.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is not having a capital to start my own business so at to be able to provide for my familys needs like food, clothing and school fees. Currently I do small casual jobs like weeding at people's farms which does not pay well.
