What did you spend your third transfer on?
I have always wanted to fence my compound, but I did not have the money to do so until when I received my third transfer, I bought barbed wire and poles that I used for fencing. My compound is now properly fenced. The remaining I spent on paying for my child”s school fees in secondary school and to boost my rice business. The business has enabled me take care of my family.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on paying 30,000 KES balance that remained after I had bought land, bought a steel door and three steel windows and fixed them at 15,000 KES, a sack of maize at 4,500 KES then used the rest of the cash on food for the house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that am now living freely because I now own legally the land am living on, unlike before when I used to worry about how I was going to pay for the land. Thanks to GiveDirectly.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent most of the first transfer pay school fee for my child who in secondary, this will allow my child to be in school through out like other children. The remaining balance l spent to buy clothes and food.

The moment l received transfer l was very happy because l was not sure of getting that money.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
My intention is to use the transfer on building a bigger house for my family because the current one is small .l would like to build a three roomed semi permanent house. Secondly,l will use the remaining amount on paying school fees for my daughter in a polytechnic college. She is studying social work.Lastly, l would like to use part of the transfer on rice farming.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My biggest achievement is educating my children on my own as a widow.My first born daughter is now is college. Through my small business of selling rice, l have been able to pay for their fees.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is paying school fees for my children.Two of them are in secondary school and one dropped out of college of lack of college fees.The profits from my business are not enough to support paying their fees. At one point l had to do a fund raising in my church to keep them in school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the morning. I perform daily house chores before l go to the market to open my business premise.
