How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life improved greatly after I bought a dairy cow using GiveDirectly's transfer. In addition to being a source of income, It has made me occupied tending to it most of the day. I no longer idle around in the village like I used to. As we speak, I am looking after them. I feel proud of seeing them grazing in the field. It is now an occupation that brings a lot of fulfillment to my family at large through the income that I get from selling milk.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in the sense that they gave information to avert household conflicts and chaos in the village. They discouraged spending in ways that were inappropriate and motivated people to focus on their real challenges. My village remained peaceful despite all the bee-hive of activities.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of the second transfer on paying school fees for my children who are in secondary school. Before then, I used to sacrifice a little amount of money that I could get from selling milk or working on people's farms to pay for their school fees. It is a great relief having managed to pay all the required amount of school fees at once using the transfer. Lastly, I managed to spend the remaining amount of money on building a house. Previously, I used to live in a shanty house that could have collapsed anytime. My regards go to GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I feel very excited now that I will be receiving this money.I have been rearing a cow that is not mine but now it means that I will buy my own cow.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. This is when I have had lunch and I can relax after grazing cattle.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life concerns my health.I fell ill when I was five years old with a disease I suspect to be polio. It paralysed my leg and up to date I use a walking stick so that I can support my walking.Few years later I fell ill for ten years with what was said to be celebral malaria. It made me insane and really affected my health and life. When I remember all this it really breaks me into tears.
