On receiving the two transfers, I had all the plans in place that I was hopeful to see accomplished before exhausting the total amount received. I am happy that I managed to deliver on most of them but it was unfortunate that I could not initiate one of them as I needed a piece of land to purchase which I could not find at all. I had to divert the allocated amount and invest in a lactating cow that was KES35000. I am currently rearing it now to sell later with the hope of initiating that initial goal once I secured a place to buy.

This gave every family a chance to fix what they had been struggling with without having to worry about how they will pay back the money. Upon receiving the second transfer, I spent the first part of it on livestock - one being a cow at KES35000 and also two goats at a total cost of KES7000. All these are a build-up towards purchasing a piece of land that I am still looking for at the moment. I also obtained a chainlink that I will be using in the next few days in establishing a poultry coop. I have 10 chickens and will be adding more to the cages once the construction is done as they have been so helpful in settling most of the household bills. With the remaining amount, I obtained a plastic water tank at KES2700, foodstuff at KES4000, and saved the small amount that will be useful in paying any labor force that I will bring in during the construction process.

I was doing some domestic chores when I received an SMS indicating that I had received the promised money from GiveDirectly. I became so happy as I knew that I would finally be able achieve my goals of buying a piece of land using this money.

My daily life has changed and it is continuing to change. This is because I have been able to purchase a dairy cow which is an investment to me as I am planning to later sell it after it calves and use the money to purchase a piece of land. With this, I am optimistic that I will materialize my dream of purchasing a piece of land. By doing so, I will have increased the land under cultivation and I believe that the proceeds will last my family for 5 months which will be an improvement than currently where the proceeds can only last us for 3 months.

My goal has been to own my own piece of land for cultivation as I live at home and was given a small portion of land which whenever I cultivate it, the proceeds does not usually last my family for even three months. When I received my transfer, I bought a dairy cow worth KES 35000. I am planning to rear it and when it calves, I will sell it with the calf and use the money to achieve this. Also, I spent KES 5000 to buy some beauty products for my salon business and used the remaining KES 5000 on food after saving KES 10000.
