How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Ever since I received the cash transfers, my life has been vibrant. I feed well on a variety of foods. In addition to this, I acquired basic household items tsuch as a nice mattress and blankets that I did not possess. I am leading a life that I dreamed of. I am very happy that I have access to money for my medical care. Previously, I had no money to access medicines and better health care for my ulcers. I am grateful that I have money that will enable me access better medication at anytime.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to help the poor communities without requesting for anything in return. The cash transfers have uplifted very many poor families. On a sincere note, GiveDirectly has not committed any wrongs in my community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of the second cash transfer to purchase a cow and household items. I have saved part of it for medical care emergencies.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The big difference in my life is that I have acquired a cow of my own for milk. Having purchased a new mattress, blankets and bed sheets, I now sleep comfortably and I am happy. Before I got the money I slept on a very old mattress.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment received the transfer, I felt so happy. I thanked God and asked him to bless the work of GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying bed sheets, blanket, a mattress, a cow and food. I bought 2 bags of cement that I used for plastering my house. I saved UGX 600,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy oxen that I can use for ploughing. I also hope to spend this money on treatment. I have been sick for a very long time but I have never had money to get better treatment. The best I have done is to buy pain killers and swallow which does not help.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I pray. This gives me strength and peace in my heart.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is sickness. I am a widow and at the same time sick. I can not work as expected. Going to hospital would be the ideal but I don't have money to do so. Since my husband died, I am just alone as an individual. We used to share plans together but now he is no more. I am sure I would have already got treatment by now if my husband was alive. Some times I recall the kind of life we used to share together yet I can not do any much.
