How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, my life is different in that, feeding is easy because I have acquired some food stuff which is taking us throughout this dry spell. Prior to receiving this cash transfer, feeding was a challenge because we did not have good harvest last year.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well through giving me support that has enabled me to build a permanent house and other household items that were missing. I have not seen what GiveDirectly has not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer for completing construction of my house through facilitating the purchase of bricks, cement, sand, iron sheets, nails and paying the builders. I bought chicken to act as saving, seeds to plant, a spray pump and spent part of the money on feeding. I have also spent part of the second transfer for hiring land for crop cultivation when rains fall.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Since we are in dry spell, I'm able to buy food for my family which has been difficult during dry season. I have also added some clothes, shoes for the whole family and we are really looking good compared to the previous days. I'm also happy my house is under construction and very soon I believe by time rains return I will be occupying it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy when I saw the money in my phone which prompted me to go to the neighborhood asking them if they have also received the transfers and they confirmed. I started to plan on how to use the transfer and I decided to construct a house because I have been sleeping in grass thatched house which was in a bad state.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent ugx 970000 buying construction materials and start the construction. I used ugx 230000 on household items and saved ugx 500000 for the house construction.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This transfers I will spend on building ironroofed house for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is afternoon especially after finishing garden work. It's the time I rest and relax my mind.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of fram land, so the small money some times I get is spent on renting land. This is hindering many other plans in my family.
