What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on 2 heifers for 27,000 KES and a he-goat for 3,000 KES.I also spent 5,000 KES to boost my charcoal selling business. I had started buying and selling charcoal with part of my second transfer (10,000 KES). I thank GD for support since before this, I had no capital at all and because of this I would from time to time hunt for and buy a tree, use a lot of energy to fell it myself, cut it to smaller logs myself, burn charcoal myself, pack it and then take it to the beach side where I do my sales. I had a lot of burn-out and this also meant that I could not have a steady supply of charcoal since the process would take long, worsened by the fact that I could only afford money for 1 tree at any one given time. Consequently, my income was low thus life was difficult for me. I am very grateful to GD since with part of the grant, I changed my strategy and now I manage to buy charcoal from wholesalers, which is easier on me, with the difference that I have supplies daily, I make more money and save more money. I also save my energy. Before GD, I used to surrender between 400 KES -800 KES as my savings in the Group pool twice a month. From the time GD supported me, I get to save a minimum of 1,500 KES-2,000 KES twice per month, and I know that as the savings get distributed to members in December, I will have a substantial amount of savings for myself. Also, as we talk right now I have 10 bags of unsold charcoal as stock, and a total of 4,500 KES, having surrendered 1,500 KES to my group as savings yesterday.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now have a very decent house that doesn't get worn out on the walls when it rains like before. Am also happy that my children get good foods to eat because my charcoal business is now doing very well.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I spent 6000 KES on 2 sheep and the rest on daily household items like food. I can say that the money really helped me a lot; I can now talk of an asset and at the same time, my household members look healthier due to improved living standards.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I got this money the moment I was resting in my house and therefore what I did instantly was to kneel down and thank God. It came to me at a time I least expected it, the life was that hard, no food and money to sustain my household members.
