How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I now have livestock which will help support my livelihood through ploughing gardens, providing milk, and or even re-sale in future so as to pay children's school fees. Before, I used to be stressed a lot on how to acquire such assets that would support my life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving us money that has enabled people to build iron sheet roofed houses, acquired livestock, others have started small business to support livelihood. Secondly, staff advise the community on how to secure their transfers from wrong people. There's nothing it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was used to buy a bull and a cow. I paid hospital bills, and the balance is saved.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life is different in various ways, First and foremost I can afford to buy food for my family not like before where I could take a long time without seeing a mere ugx 50 shillings. In addition, I'm so glad that I have managed to acquire oxen for ploughing which has simplified cultivation. Prior to buying these bulls, I could hire labour which strained me a lot financially because I could pay for labour, feed and add ons for appreciation.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I realized that GD had transferred money to my account, I became so happy and I thanked God. I came outside jubilating, dancing and Ululating as all community members were overwhelmed with joy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have spent my transfers on acquiring livestock, I managed to secure two bulls for ploughing. I paid school fees for my sister's son who is a candidate in senior six. The remaining sum I will spend it on purchasing household items.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Buying oxen and an ox-plough is the first thing I will do when I receive these transfers. This will make it easier for me to clear gardens and plant crops in time to match the ever changing seasons. I believe it will also improve on the quality and quantity of my yields therefore making my home better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my children are playing and singing. This relaxes my mind. Some times I also join them in their games.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen and an ox-plough to support in the farming activity. The piece of land that I have would be good enough to produce food for my family but that has not been made possible because I can not use it all due to the limitations of labour. As a result, I have not been able to provide for my children as I would wish more so that I am a widow.
