How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The greatest difference is that GiveDirectly has given me hope to pursue further studies. I am looking forward to enrolling in a diploma course early next year. In addition to this, I also cleared my debts with the cash transfer.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has empowered me with the hope of pursuing further studies through the cash transfers. Generally speaking, GiveDirectly has done so far only great things.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to pay off the school fees debt of UGX 600000. I am planning the rest of the cash transfer to enroll for a diploma in crop production.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The cash transfer has enabled the expansion of my farming project in that, I established a piggery and a vegetable farm. Having studied a certificate in Agriculture, I'm now able to practice, gain more knowledge and skills on farming. Before this transfer, I could not utilise the knowledge and skills obtained from school because I had little capital. I would like to thank GiveDirectly for availing this life changing opportunity.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money, I felt very happy because I got money for buying Agricultural inputs (oxen) and start piggery business.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought Livestock ( 3 pigs) worth UGX 150,000. There is a balance of 1,650,000 which I'm planning to spend on purchasing Livestock (oxen) for ploughing my farm land .

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be in position to acquire a diploma paper. I just completed a national certificate in agriculture course with the intent to enroll for a diploma in the same field next year 2020. My brother endured with me to the level that I am and still has interest in seeing me reach the next level but he is also hard up the fact that he has his family responsibilities to full fill. I feel this is an opportunity for me to get back to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am seated with the rest of the family members. I am able to get advise that gives me hope for the future.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. I am a total orphan struggling to make ends meet alone as an individual. As of now, though I hold a certificate in a National Agriculture course, I don't work any where. I tried farming but the whether conditions did not favour the plants so they withered. The little that I havested could not sustain my plan.
