How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Without the transfers, I wouldn't have built a house! we used to stay in a mud-walled and flour and grass-thatched house that used to be so terrible and leaky during the rainy season. In fact, the floor of the house would sometime be filled by water from the ground due to too much rain. I was able to build two decent houses; one kitchen and a sitting room. I no longer worry now about leaking roofs and cold. I am also happy that we had enough food for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What I loved about GIvedirectly is that its officers really taught us about securing our money, keeping our PIN numbers safe and reporting in case of a problem. When we received our transfers, we kept it safe.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
After building a kitchen using the first transfer, I decided to build a bigger house using part of the second transfer. I paid my two children's school fees using the rest of the transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that now I have a good shelter which I had no plans to put up any time soon. I am also very happy as I got a cow which I keep and when it calves i will get milk for use.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money I felt so happy as I was living in a poor house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money which I got from GD to build a semi-permanent kitchen. I spent the rest to buy building materials for building a bigger house and bougth a cow.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is financial problem, I have been unable to pay school fees for my son in secondary school and he has spent most of his time away from school and that has always been my worry.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening, this is the time when we share a common meal with my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money is a great news to me, I am now happy that I will spend my first transfer to build a new house.
