How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because we have afforded to purchase a cow. We have been relying on our parents' cattle for milk. Thus, owning a cow means a lot to us because we can use the cattle as collateral to secure some loans. Still, we gain much prestige by owning the cow. Still, I am more hopeful of a brighter future because the cow will be generating sufficient milk for consumption and sale.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in the way enrolls beneficiaries. It ensures that all the eligible residents are enrolled since it does not engage in any form of nepotism, discrimination or favoritism. Moreover, GiveDirectly offers a relatively adequate amount of funds that have enabled us to accomplished lots of work. Hence, I do not find anything that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 25000 KES of my second transfer on purchasing a cow that we are keeping. Besides, I purchased a mattress and blanket at 3400 KES for my husband. Moreover, I spent 8000 KES on acquiring clothes for my family members. Still, I bought maize for consumption at 5000 KES. Furthermore, I used 1100 KES on acquiring sugar, tea leaves and meat for consumption by my family. Finally, I used the remaining amount on purchasing three sheep worth 10500 KES. We are raising the sheep.
