How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I don't have a reliable source of income and it has been very difficult to make goals in life. The only money I get goes straight to buying food. I have been desiring to build a house all my life. It's just been a dream and on my own I failed to do something to cultivate the dream. I was moved to set up some goals when I heard that I will received money from GD. My whole life dream was not left out and it was the main goal to be achieved with the transfer. I bought all materials needed to build my house and I am happy that the project is on. I am so grateful.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To my side, I don't see anything which GD is not doing well. I have benefited a lot from this program. GD is helping a lot of people in rural communities. I have managed to build a house because of the money I received. The program has brought joy and peace in my life. I also have a phone because of the transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Since my main goal was to build a house, my second transfer was used to buy building materials such as 2 wooden doors, door flames, 6 bags of cement. I also paid the builder an amount MK 100 000. I have also saved part of the money so that I can buy some materials as I build the house. I have been struggling with hunger for the past decade and my harvest last season was not enough. I used part of the money to buy 4 bags of maize for food processing. I had bought some maize with my first transfer and the 4 bags I bought with my second transfer was an additional.

The biggest hardship I face in my life is lack of money to buy basic necessities of life such as old and shelter. This is because I do not have a reliable and sustainable source of income.
