What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mean my dream of starting my own business will come to pass. I am a carpenter by profession and currently I am employed on casual terms. I earn about KES 200 per day when there is work to do. I plan on buying woodworking machines especially a second hand table saw that will cost me KES 70,000 and use the rest of the money to rent a premise and purchase timber. This will enable me to earn KES 800 and my life will then be better when I have a stable source of income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
On a normal day I wake up and leave for work in the nearest town which is five kilometers away. My work is very tiresome as it involves alot of wood cutting and at the end of the day I am usually very exhausted. I always look forward to the evening because this is the only time I get to rest and spend time with my young family. This makes evening the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraints is the biggest hardship I have faced in my life. My family depends on me to provide all the basic needs such as food and clothing. I earn KES 200 which is not reliable and not enough to cater for all the needs. This has been straining me alot and when I fail to put food on the table for them I feel sad. If I had a stable source of income, I could have lived a better life.
