How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At the moment, I'm trying to improve my building skills so that I'm able to manage more projects in my village from neighbours. I hope after a few years and some more experience, I will be able to fully build a house to completion.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
This organisation is a unique one. I admire their tireless effort to ensure charge in the lives of others. Hope they keep up their good work.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been a contractor for the past 3 years with a very low income to care for my family. My wife had to go into the bush to hustle animals to take them to the nearby towns and villages to sell and provide meals for the family. I've been around others who actually built a successful business and they did extremely well.So I intend to establish a business for my wife so that she will no longer go into the bush in search of animals again. The profits generated from the business will enable us to have a new house of ours.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My family and I live in one house made of thatch roof. Getting the thatches to cover the house is so difficult. At times, we walk two to three hours daily to get the thatches. However, the most frustrating part is, the thatches don't stay too long over the house, once the thatches are dried up the entire house starts to leak, especially during rainy seasons. We have live in this deplorable condition for more than 15 years and my plan has been to build a better shelter for my family. Since I could not afford to purchased building materials, I kept hoping that one day things will get better. Fortunately for me GiveDirectly came in to our village and enrolled me on her financial assistance program. When I got enroll on this program, I became overjoyed I felt that my plan of living in a decent house will be fulfilled.

Now that I'm receiving financial assistance from GiveDirectly my plan of building a better house will be fulfilled.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have long planned to build a house big enough to accommodate all my family members. In the past, my family and I struggle so hard with our house. The roof of the house is in a deplorable condition. During rainy seasons we experienced leakages everywhere thereby making us to have uncomfortable sleep. When I received my first transfer I went straight ahead to start procuring Roofing sheets, since the zinc is so expensive. For now, I purchased one bundle plus 15 sheets costing 30,000LD. Also I used 5000LD to transport the zinc to my village. I'm so much thankful to GiveDirectly for coming to my aid in such a difficult time.
