How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Receipt of the transfer rejuvenated my desire of starting a shop business. In brief, I have made some significant development milestones towards starting up the business by building a shop and growing some crops that will be sold to get funds for acquiring the needed stock. I was almost losing focus on venturing into the shop business since I have made no savings for funding it. Most of the little produce that we usually get from our subsistence farming is consumed by my family, leaving us with no surpluses for sale.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by offering the transfer as a lump sum. This allows us to attain our big and relatively costly dreams that could not be sufficed by meager income. From my view, there is nothing that GiveDirectly is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 400 USD of my second transfer on building a shop in my plot. I have always desired to start a shop business because I find it one of the most profitable ventures in our area. Unfortunately, I had no resources to lease or build a shop. Currently, I have the building but no stock. Also, I used the remaining funds (about 130 USD) on small-scale farming by planting some tomatoes for sale. This will probably earn me substantial income for purchasing some stock for the shop.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfer was the happiest moment of my life. I saw my long time goal of running my own business being realized since I knew I will spend the money to build a canteen alongside the road and then later stock it enough to earn me good profits thus support my family needs with ease and better my working environment from my current casual jobs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My dream has been to move away from overreliance on casual jobs to earn a living for me and my family. I am driven by the desire to be self-employed. The biggest difference in my daily life is the shop I have build using the cash transfer from GiveDirectly. Though I haven't completed am so hopeful that this will soon happen and I bring in stock to start operating it. It is at this time that I expect to be fully engaged in my own business working at my own pace and enjoying profits alone.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have had a dream to run my own business for quite so long a dream I have never realized before due to lack of enough resources. I have worked as a casual laborer driving other people's cars a job that I am paid so little but I thank God I had it since it has enabled me to see my family through. Starting my own business means I will enjoy all profits alone and work at my own pace thus will relax at the same time improve my family's living standard. When I received a cash transfer from GD, I used the entire amount to put up a kiosk alongside the road. I feel good to have done it soon I am confident I will start operating thus be self-employed earning better and working under a humble environment.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use this money to build a shop where I plan to installed maize milling machine that I have already bought it. I acquired the Maize Milling machine on April 2020 but I lack money for building a shop and doing installations.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is in the morning when I go to look after my livestocks and make sure that they are satisfied. When I come back from the grazing field I am normally tired for the rest of the day so I consider the happiest part of my day is in the morning between 9am and 11.30am.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I faced in my life is failing to continue my education. I drop out of school at primary level in 2003 due to lack of school fees to join Secondary level. I decided to start buying and selling poultry so that I save little income for my future plans.
