How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I would like to start my own business where I sell and market second hand clothes since I see that the market is there and this will help me a lot financially because I will manage to make money on the side and also will have something to occupy my mind and I can as well start chipping in when it comes to the bills in the house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I have no complaint when it comes to this program but I rather have praises and I ma very thankful for its generosity because through the funds I receive my children got to stay in school and I was able to provide a meal for the family which will last us quite sometime.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received the money I went ahead and bought a cow since I have wanted to for the longest time and my main reason was to let it breed so that I could have more livestock and as for the commercial reason I get to sell the milk which helps me earn some money. I also paid KES 10,000 in tuition for my children since they had pending debts at their school. I also bought a sack of maize worth KES 3,200 so that we would have a meal in the house and used KES 2,000 to purchase fertiliser for the farm. As for what remained I managed too put in my savings account which was around KES 7,950.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have purchased a heifer and an ox. This is what I have always wanted to have, but I didn't had the money. I depend on small scale farming and the amount of money that I get through this is so small and it's only for consumption. I didn't had other source of income. The recurrent needs at home made me not to save some money. When I received the transfer from GiveDirectly I felt so happy because I knew I would be able to fulfilled my dreams. I bought a heifer and this will enable me to get enough milk when it reproduced in the next few months. I will cut the daily cost of buying milk which is so expensive. I also bought an ox. This is an investment because I have a plan to sell after some time when it's grown at a higher price. This will enable me to buy a piece of land. This will also give me a chance to get school fees for my children in school. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled me to own things that could have taken quite some time.
