Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was having a chat with my relatives when I received a notification message that I have received money from GD. This was an awesome moment I have never experienced before. All I can say is thank you GD.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I feel like my level of poverty has been reduced. I have managed to buy enough maize, I managed to buy iron sheets and school uniforms for my children. I couldn't have done all this on my own.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My first transfer was used to buy 21 iron sheets. I am planning to build a house next year when the rainy season is over. I had no food in my house. This was an opportunity to buy more food and I bought 5 bags of maize for food processing. I also have saved part of the money to buy 2 bags of fertilizer. I want to have a bumper yield next year. I also used part of the money to buy a bicycle for ease movement. I used part of the money to buy clothes for my children and school uniforms.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This transfer will help us alot, my house does not withstand heavy rains. It awalys leak and we dont sleep in such times moving things like flour around the house. We derive our livelihoods through casual labor and charcoal making and it is not enough to finance a decent house. This transfer will help me to buy cement, iron sheet and bricks to construct bew house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was mainly joyful in May this year when we had Eid celebations. I am a muslim and such time brings alot of joy as we finish 30 days of wholiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently i am facing challenges to provide food constantly for the family. Sometimes we go to bed without eating anything the whole day or skipping regular meals.
