How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I had long built a house long before GiveDirectly came but I ran out of money to finish it. I was able to finish up the building using the transfers from Givedirectly. I am glad that In also bought one more cow for rearing. Now I have under my own name.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Everything in my opinion was well done, I especially loved how interactive and fair the staff are.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a dairy cow for rearing worth Ksh. 10000. I bought food and other household items using the rest of the transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the newly built house that is going to be easily maintained. I feel I would not have been able to build this house in time since I do not have an alternative reliable source of income. This is the biggest difference in my daily life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. When my son read the message and interpreted to me I felt so happy and got down on my knees to thank God for the blessing of the moment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used part of my first transfer to bring my newly constructed house to its completion. I also used part of it to buy furniture to be used in the just constructed house while the remaining amount was used to buy food and other basic household commodities.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My daughter built us a wooden house but she could not complete it due to shortage of money. When I heard about about the transfers from GiveDirectly I thought that it could'nt have come at a better time.Am going to complete the house as well as buy a dairy cow since my spouse and I no longer work. This will be our source of money to buy food
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time that I get to rest after my work for the day.It is also the time that i get to connect with my children both at home and over the phone.Talking to them makes me very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is meeting the needs of my family without any source of income. My husband is very old and is often sick;in and out of hospital. The medical expenses as well as all the daily basic needs at home are very costly to us.Since we are too old to work, our farm rarely produces enough to meet all the needs and sometimes we are left depending on our children to help us.
