How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Comparing my past life before receiving the transfers and how it is currently, I have witnessed a lot of differences, a reason enough to thank God for the great things which came into our family. My household structures have changed and currently, I have a cow to milk every morning both for our own consumption and surplus to sell.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a very great job in both my life and other people in my village. The job has really been impactful and anyone in the village can attest to that. It was amazing that we got the freedom to spend the money in any way we would choose and that we were not limited to a specific direction in any way. On the other side as much as we are so thankful for the organization we also feel that the transfers would have continued for at least another full round as we have already received. We became so good at generating ideas only that the budget we were working with would not cover everything.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
After a great start on the first transfers, the second transfers came and we really registered a lot of changes. We had some projects which were still hanging after exhausting the first transfers and we saw it good to complete them. We spent part of it on purchasing a good breed of cow which saw us parting with a whooping 3000 KES. We spent part of the remaining on clothing all the members of our household and add up the remaining with the savings and used on paying for the piece of land we were buying. We are really grateful for the changes we have so far made, the impact is so clear and we always appreciate it.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been desiring to own a cow and now that I will receive the transfer from GiveDirectly, this mean I will be able to own one.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning after waking up healthy and able to see a new day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The size of land under cultivation is 0.5 acres which is hardly enough to cater for the entire family. The biggest hardship I have faced in life is therefore lack of funds to increase the size of land in order to cater for my family needs comfortably.
