How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The fact that I received this transfer has made my life different in that I had never got this amount of money that has enabled me to do several things such as repair my bicycle that had taken over three years ever since it got spoiled. Having it repaired can help me ran my errands effectively. I was also able to take my orphaned grandchild to secondary school since she had passed her primary seven well. Previously as there was no money, I planned to make her repeat Primary Seven as means to just keep her in school while I looked for money to maintain her in a secondary school. However, the cow that I acquire will act as an investment that will keep her in school. This is through the sell of its calves to raise her fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by fulfilling all its promises of giving unconditional transfers to me and to the community at large. These transfers have helped in several ways like improving housing in the community. In my opinion, GiveDirectly has got nothing bad that it has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer Ugx 830000 to buy a cow. I then bought some seedling at Ugx 90000. I repaired my bicycle at Ugx 145000. I then spent 250000 to take my grandchild to school. I then used some of my transfer for feeding, treatment and bought some household items such as suitcase, utensils. I am saving some of my money such that it can help when the farming season starts.
