How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving these transfers, I didn't have a personal piece of land, I hired land to cultivate inorder to support my child being a single mother. However, after getting money from GiveDirectly I was able to get a piece of land that I am going to cultivate until my money is paid, I expect the harvest to help me support myself and child. Secondly, I had a very old small mattress and old bed sheets but I have acquired new mattress and bed sheets that have made me very happy because I am now having comfortable nigh sleep.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me cash that I spent for getting a piece of land and household items. On my side, GiveDirectly did only good.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my transfer for buying a family motobike, clothes, foodstuffs and paid medical treament. I have not yet spent UGX 1,000,00 but I plan to spend it for buying a pieces of land.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is being able to feed my family consistently and reliably. This is because I can buy and stock food as compared to before when I had to wait on for the crops to be harvested. During that mid period, there is always serious famine which at this time has not affected my family. In addition to the above, hiring a piece of farm has given me relief knowing that I will use it for as long as I want until the owner refunds my money. This will then relive me from hiring land on a yearly basis. I can now save up the money and use it for other things.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy that I had got money that would help me in a great way like get a piece of farm and and buy some things for my home.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer Ugx 300000 to buy some house hold items such as mattress, curtains, Clothing, shoes. I then hired farm land at Ugx 700000 that I will cultivate on until my money is given back. I spent some money to buy food to feed my family. I am saving up some money Ugx 300000 that I plan to add up with second transfer to buy livestock such as a cow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land that I can cultivate. I also hope to buy a cow that I know will reproduce. By so diong, I will be able to sell others so as to raise money that will take care of some household needs especially providing the education needs of my child the fact that I am raising him alone as a widow.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I have had a meal. I will be satisfied and stronger.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of farm land. I don't have where I can cultivate and so life is not easy. Taking care of my household needs more so the treatment bills of my child would be easily handled if I had where to cultivate. Atleast I would have something to sell in order to raise some money. Sometimes I have had to work with debts.
