How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before I received these transfers, from GiveDirectly, I had a challenge of ploughing my farm land I used to dig a small portion of land because used hand tools which gave me very little yields. Having received money from GiveDirectly, I was in position to acquire oxen that are helping me with ploughing. I can now plough a larger portion of land and I expecting increased yields for supporting my family. In addition, I bought a grinding mill which generates daily income that I save for my child's education and feeding.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well to give me money that I spent for acquiring a grinding mill. GiveDirectly did nothing bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase a grinding mill, foodstuffs, paid school fees and hired a piece of land.

The biggest difference in my daily life is being able to get labor to help mostly in farm work as my health was detoriating compared to now when I am improving having got proper treatment and rest. As well, I am delighted that I can efficiently feed my self. Prior to getting this money since I had no way out, I had to drag my self to the farm a middist the illness that I have. This is so that I could at least save up some money for treatment and feeding.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Having recieved my money, at that moment I really felt happy and anxious. This money would now help me solve some financial needs like feeding, acquiring land and medication.

I spent my first transfer Ugx 300000 to pay up fees for my child. I then partly bought a piece of land at Ugx 800000. I then used some money Ugx 200000 to buy livestock such as goats, pigs, and sheep. I am using the balance of my money to cater for day to day expenses like medication, feeding among others.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land that I can cultivate, oxen and an ox-plough that will support in farming, a cow that will reproduce and also provide milk for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I am with my children. They support me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land. The piece of land that I have is too small to produce enough food for my family. Food shortage is very common in my household because of limitation of space. As I speak now, I don't have food in the house. I am surviving on casual labour. I spend the little money that I am able to earn on food items so that atleast my family is able to have a meal.
