How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The sufficient stock of foodstuff which has served us for a good number of months now since we received the transfers is our pride. We have improved in all sectors of life and we have always feel blessed that GiveDIrectly chose to come and work with us. Were it not for this program, we would still be wallowing in poverty, struggling with the casual labor which we used to do and even the debts we had would have piled to a huge figure. We are thankful that we experienced a drastic change which brought even a different mindset in our day to day handling of our routine work.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly really did a lot of good job both to us in our household and also for other members of the village. The kind of improvement in the villager's lifestyles is really commendable. We managed to clear the school fees areas, source enough foodstuff and also completed the construction of a new house in our household. We have also improved in the agricultural sector as we have now planted enough maize and even bought some livestock with the first transfer. On what was never done well by GiveDirectly, it is really hard to find one but we would only suggest that the youth be included in the program in future so that they may start their own investments too.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
On receiving the second transfers from GiveDirectly, We sat and plan on how to spend with my household members. We decided to spend the first part of it on completion of the house which we had started constructing with the first transfers. I spent part of the remaining on paying school fees for my son who is in college and the remaining went to buying of foodstuff in the household.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the happiness that GD funds brought us. We used to miss meals at times due to lack of funds but now we are happy we have enough food. I was also able to pay fee for our children comfortably using the transfer. Thank you for the funds.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was excited to see that I had received funds from GiveDirectly. I was still asleep but I woke up and longed for daybreak so as to go and collect the cash.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer that GiveDirectly sent me to pay school fee for our children in university and college. I then bought maize for consumption, paid a tractor to plough our farm so as to plant maize and tomatoes for sale and get an income from that. I am also currently finishing my house which I had built. I used GD funds to buy a door and windows, and I plan to use the balance to buy cement to plaster my shop.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been desiring to start my own business of buying and selling maize. Receiving this money means I will soon be my own boss and I will be able to generate more income and cater for my family's needs comfortably.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning since waking up healthy and seeing a new day makes me jovial and ready to face the day's activities.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of School fees. This has been hard because in 2010, our area was affected by unknown maize desease which greatly reduced our production yet we entirely depend on it and that is why I am planning to start my own business.
