How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in many ways than it would have been if I never received these transfers because I have shifted from a grass thatched house to a permanent house, I have paid school fees, debts and bought household Items which were lucking in my home. My life is at peace now because previously I never stopped thinking how I was going to pay off the debt I acquired and so many other needs required in the household.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has helped me with transfers that have enabled me complete my house, clear debts, pay fees and purchased household items. Give Directly has saved a lot of people from poverty especially we have been sleeping badly in grass thatched house which were leaking. However, Give Directly has done nothing wrong and we just appreciate the great work they have done because I have never seen anyone send money to people the way give does.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My child fell sick sometime back and I did not have money for treatment and I borrowed money in exchange for my piece of land as collateral security to the tune of UGX 800000. So when I received my last transfer I paid of that debt. I paid school fees for my child attending secondary education in the boarding section at UGX 300000. My daughter died and left me with her children whom i'm taking care off so I bought for them uniforms, Books and paid development fee all together UGX 73000. I also bought a calf of UGX 300000 such that it can help me in future when need be. The remaining UGX 160000 I used it for buying household items like soap, bed sheets, utensils and food.
