How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No, actually I want to do a business, that was my previous planned. I have decided to save this money including the balance ones to start up my own business. Maybe other things might come up later but for now, I don't have new goals.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
All of the work GiveDirectly has done for me and my family are great job. Because GiveDirectly gave me money that I didn't work for and the money is going to help me greatly.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Firstly I want thank Give Directly. Since my wife died in 2020, I've been alone because my children are all grown ups. I plant cassava and pineapple to sustain myself. The proceeds from my garden is not enough to take care of my living expenses. I wanted to plant peanut in order to get more money but I didn't have the money to do so. Eventhough, I was sick when the money was sent but receiving it made me happy. I was very happy because my desire to own a peanut farm will come to pass.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Prior to receiving the money from Give Directly, I never knew how to raise money to fund the peanut farm I intend to make. I'm aware that my living condition will improve because a farm will increase my income.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I haven't use the money but I want to grow peanuts and establish a petty trade.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I had a large farm that I was earning money from to sustain my family but unfortunately for me my wife got seriously ill, I used all of the earnings I got from the farm to take care of my wife hospital bills. Of all the money that I spent, my wife died. I was left alone in this town. I made garden before to sustain myself. Our children are all adults in different counties. At times they help with my feeding. I really want to leave the farming work and start my own business, but I don't have money. If I receive this money form Givedirectly, I will start my own business."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"After the death of my wife I have been lonely. At times I feel so bad coming from the farm alone and cooking for myself. The death of my wife brought pain into my heart to the extend that I am not prepared to marry another woman. I am thankful to God that my friends come around to comfort me at times. What makes me happy the most is, I am part of Givedirectly program and I believe through Givedirectly program my livelihood will improve."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Since my wife died, I have been struggling to survive on my own. My children are far away from me, I don't have anyone to help me. I make farm to sustain my self. I want to start my own business but the money I earn from the farm can not start a business for me. Getting money to start business is the challenge I am facing now."
