Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy to have received the cash transfer. Unfortunately, the day after receiving the cash my grand child broke his hand. The money really helped us while we were in hospital for a week.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life has changed alot. I can now eat daily and drink tea because of the money you gave me. I finished farm work early this farming season because I used the money to employ people who helped me with farm work. There is alot of maize at my farm because of this program. I do not lack soap in my home any more. I am so grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the money to buy iron sheets, clothes, school bags for my grand children and fertilizer which I applied to my maize. I did not have shoes so I bought myself some shoes. On top of that, I used some cash pay casual laborers I employed to work at my farm.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Iam happy for having been considered in this program. It will save me from starvation because I do not have food to take me through this period to the next harvesting season. I will among other things buy bags of maize, fertilizer etc.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Iam happiest in the evening because it is when we usually have food with my family. When I do not have enough food for the whole day, we eat in the evening hence my excitement at this time.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship in my life is that I constantly fall sick. Iam not strong enough to go out to do some piece works due to my condition. Ofcourse of late I have improved in that my health condition has been stable and better.
