How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I have improved my farming with the use of monthly transfers from GivDirectly. This is through employing modern mechanism in my farm like the use of hybrids inputs and machines in land preparation. This has improved my yields hence I have enough food and surpluses to sell to increase my income.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is I am planning to save from the money I get from GiveDirectly and buy a new water tank with a capacity of 9000 Liters with the savings. I will store water during the dry season so that I do not run out of the water like what I am currently experiencing. This will reduce the incidences of water-borne diseases that my family members get frequently.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have enough food to feed on with my family and I no longer miss meals like before. I employed modern mechanisms on my farm like the use of hybrids inputs and machines in land preparation with the transfer. This improved my yields and I was able to harvest 10 bags of corns. I am glad that I can supplement the pension I get from the government scheme after my retirement with the yields to cater to my family's needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect in the next six months I shall have saved enough resources in order to buy a new water tank that will change my life if all goes well. This will act as a reservoir for use during dry seasons. Having the capability of harvesting clean rainwater for my family's consumption will be among the biggest decisions I shall have accomplished through GiveDirectly's transfers.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been able to purchase two sheep that I now rear within my compound because I am sure that they will give birth very fast and in case I run out of cash in the future, I will sell them out and make some cash. The advantage of keeping sheep instead of goats is that they give birth very fast and also they require very little cash for maintenance which for me is quite affordable.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I want to buy a new water tank with a capacity of 9000 Liters that I will use to store water during dry season so that I do not run out of water like what i am currently experiencing. Right now I use water from the borehole but the problem is that the water produced is what we call hard water that can only be used for limited purposes. For instance we cannot drink water from the borehole because of its hard nature.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Having received cash transfers for the past four months, I have been able to buy enough food for my family without straining so much like I used to do in the past. Moreover, getting a balanced diet is no longer a problem for me because I am in a position where I am able to buy what I want to eat. Previously I used to I used to eat maybe one or two meals a day but right now, taking three meals a day is no longer a problem for me, thanks to the monthly transfers from GD.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have a major project of buying the new water tank that will change my life if all goes well. I plan to make savings of close to 2000 KES per month for the next few months to come in order to be able to buy the new storage facility that will act as a reservoir for use during dry seasons like we experience right now. Water is a very precious commodity and without it human life can be quite unbearable and that is why I have to make effort to get the item within the next six to eight months from today.
