How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much different in that I constructed a two roomed permanent house. This is my only happiness and joy. I would have died without ever owning a permanent house. Previously, I was sleeping under a thatched house which was difficult to maintain. I had no other income generating activity besides agriculture which is unpredictable.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to send the poor cash transfers to spend unconditionally. Many people have utilized these cash transfers to their benefit. I like the fact that GiveDirectly staff sensitize the communities on how to utilize their transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase iron sheets and nails worth UGX 1000000. I bought cement worth UGX 138000 and sand worth UGX 80000. I paid school fees worth UGX 150000. The balance I plan to spend it on paying the builders.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I live a much more happy life together with my family. I was able to clear my children's tuition and buy bricks that I plan to use for building a permanent structure. Previously, I didn't have a reliable source of income to meet my family needs since I depended on casual jobs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very excited when I received the transfer. This was my first time to receive such an enormous amount of money in history.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have spent my first transfer to buy bricks worth Ugx 900000, pay my child's tuition and medical bills totaling to Ugx 300000 and 80000 respectively. I still have a balance of Ugx 250000 that I intend to use for buying a bicycle and the other portion of the transfer was spent on agricultural inputs.
