How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My house is very old and insecure for me and my family to relax at night. It has also become very small to accommodate me and my family. Therefore, I have decided to build a bigger house for my family. In so doing, as soon as I received my transfer, I purchased enough building materials and immediately started my house project. I am very much excited about this opportunity provided me by GiveDirectly. My life has changed completely.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my candid opinion, GiveDirectly has been objective in their daily undertakings. They have given me the opportunity to improve my living condition through direct cash transfer. This has given me hope for the future. I am grateful to GD for all they do.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
At the moment, my house is very old and small. It has become insecure and uncomfortable for my family and I. Hence, when I received my transfer, I bought 3 bundles of zinc ($31,500LD). I also used portion of my transfer to buy 1 carton of zinc nails and mixed nails to roof my house. I am grateful for this life changing opportunity provided me by GiveDirectly.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I needed money to plaster my entire house. Hence I've decided to save some of the money earned from farm work. However, due to low income received from my daily hustle, it looks almost impossible to achieve my goal. Nonetheless, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I had planned to plaster the interior and exterior parts of my house. Additionally, I have also decided to put floor in the entire house so that the dust can be reduced. It is indeed a huge blessing to me and my family to have received such amount of money from GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
From my own judgement, GiveDirectly has been very considerate and fair in their daily interactions with poor people like us. This organization has changed many lives through their unique method of delivering cash directly to the hard-to-reach towns/villages and underprivileged people like us. I am so glad to be a part of this unique project initiated by GD.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have decided to plaster my house and also put floor within the entire house. Therefore, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I bought 10 bags of cement for $16,000LD. I also used portion of my transfer ($5,650LD) as transportation for both the cement and myself. Moreover, the remaining portion of my transfer was saved to pay contractors. I am so relieved at the moment. I thank GiveDirectly for making me to realize the dream of completing my house.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The day the money came to my phone I did not know that I had money there till I got to my farm. After the long day of underbrushing I went to the kitchen to make a call. There is a special place understand my kitchen where often time I stand to make a call holding the phone upright. When I held up the phone and the network began active I decided to check my mobile money account balance instead of calling. After checking I was very happy when I saw forty thousand three hundred seventy five dollars in my phone. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for putting me on this program.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I biggest difference in my daily life since I started recieving payments from GiveDirectly is that, the money that I was going to take years looking for to have my house been plaster I have it given to me by GiveDirectly without labouring for it. Moreover, I do not sleep in dust again because I have concrete floor now in my house. For years my household has been sleeping in dust but thank God for GiveDirectly for providing the cash for me to buy the cement.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I got the money from the phone, I took it to my wife for us to discuss what to buy with it. We agreed that we should buy cement to plaster and put floor in our house. Therefore, I did spend my most recent transfer on cement. I need not to buy zinc because my house already has zinc on it. My plan has been to plaster the walls of my house and have the floor cast with concrete. It is a blessing to be qualified for this cash transfer program. I am going to do a lot of things that will have positive impact in the life of my household.
