What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We plan on venturing into agricultural business where we'd focus on livestock. We plan on buying 10 goats which would breed and multiply. This would act as a foundation for us and help our sustainability as far as livelihood is concerned. Building a house is the next item on our plans with this transfer, like I already said, this house doesn't bring us the comfort we desire, so these funds would help us to finally live that dream of being in a decent and iron roofed house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
This has to be in July this year when we got a casual labour in Chilwa scheme where we realized a sum of 80$ which we used to purchase a sewing machine, the one you saw inside the house. This brought me and my family joy as we were able to get something that would help us realize some income for our household and maybe even improve our livelihood.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our current challenges are food and lack of decent housing. When it comes to finding food we rely on casual labour here in our community. Now, for us the hurdle is on finding that piece work so that we are able to get paid and find ourselves food. Ever since we started our married life we have never been food secure for a month and this gives us stress as we are constantly worried about how we'll get by in term of food and now it's even worse as we also have to think of our daughter here. Additionally, poor housing is another challenge we are currently facing, we wish we lived in a better house than this but due to financial constraints we are unable to do that. This house leaks whenever it rains and this disrupts our sleep.
