Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal for the next four months is to be able to improve my poultry keeping project. I want to save up enough money from my poultry keeping business as well as from my casual jobs and be able to buy at least one dairy cow. This, I intend to do as I look forward to meeting other needs of my family like payment of school fee for my children as well as other personal needs for my girls. This is a step towards self empowerment and general improvement of my livelihood and that of my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life that has occurred over the last four months is the house completion. We had constructed a new house but we had not brought it to completion because of lack of money to do that. On receiving money from GiveDirectly, we were able to buy cement and bring the construction of the said house to completion. We arec now proud owners of a new house and we feel so much indebted to GiveDirectly for enabling us realize this dream. I was also able to start a poultry keeping business where I now have 15 chicken up from 3 that I owned before I started receiving GiveDirectly transfers. With the poultry keeping project I earn a total of KES 250 per week and still looking forward to improving it.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that I shall be more empowered financially than I am now. I am looking forward to buying a dairy cow by saving up from my poultry keeping business as well as casual labour proceeds. All these will see my living standards and that of my family improve by a great deal.

My life is currently different because this transfers have motivated me to work harder than before.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the year 2017, our car was involved on an accident. Fortunately, no one was hurt but the vehicle was baddly damaged - and it was not insured. Accordingly, we had to spend most of the monies we had in repairing it - and it is not fully functional. As a result, our house has stalled because we have no more funds to use. Hence, I find that incident (accident) as the biggest challenge I have faced in life.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when sharing dinner with my cheerful family. This shows that we are doing well.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on buying and rearing poultry.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
After attaining Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) in the year 2015, I have been having some contracts to teach in local schools. Accordingly, I build-up savings from the income I acquire - and that (savings) enabled me to buy a cow that has been the main source of milk for my family. Hence, I feel that managing to buy a cow is the greatest achievement I have in life.
