How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My current life is different from how it was four months ago in that I have been able to keep my son in school. I have also managed to purchase some livestock for rearing. Something that could have never been possible were it not for GD.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to expand my farming and start a business for my spouse.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my son has been able to stay in school without being sent out of school for not paying his fees.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months,I am hopeful that my life shall have changed for the better with my farming having expanded.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the ease and relief I have gotten after paying school fees for my son who was always in and out of school. I felt so frustrated when I saw him being sent out of school for lack of money.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my cow shall have reproduced hopefully. This will make my life more comfortable and some ease in paying school fees for my son.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Were it not for these transfers, I would have not paid the school fees, maybe my son could have been sent out completely and forever never to return. I also have very comfortable seats in my house now.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My new goal is to buy a cow. This will help in school fees payment for my son once it reproduces.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is that my wife works in Mombasa so I am left with the kids back in the village. Taking care of the young kids is a challenge to me as I am forced at times to go back to the house during lunch time to prepare a meal for them while keeping my work on hold.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go out to do the casual jobs like ploughing people's farms. This makes me happy as it is my main source of livelihood.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on repairing my house and part of it will be spent on paying school fees for my son who joined form one recently.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is that I was able to build my own house using cash I had saved while doing casual labour. This makes me happy because my family has a place they call home.
