How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a Water tank. I used to walk for a long distance to get clean water for drinking and also for domestic use. This was so tiresome and time consuming. Due to my old age I was struggling to ensure that I get the clean water available. Currently I have a big water tank and I am in a position to store clean water when there is rain. I no longer walk for that long distance like before. I have save much time to do other chores at home. I am so happy because I no longer drink dirty water or being exposed to water related diseases. My dairy cows also gets enough water. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled us live a better life than before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on buying a Water tank. I used to go for a long distance to collect clean water for domestic use. I also bought Television set. The rest of the money I paid hospital bill for my spouse who was not feeling well. Finally I bought seeds and plugged my farm, This enabled me to get a good harvest. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited that I even started explaining everything to my ailing husband who cannot hear from stroke. I called my grandchildren to confirm the message for me which turned out to be true.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I used to have traditional cows only but right now I bought a grade cow which can produce enough milk for us. We used to sell goats and heifers to take my ailing husband to hospital but when we received the transfer, I was able to pay off the hospital bill that we had in hospital and we have been able to take him for regular checkups without fail.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My husband has been sick of stroke and has been confined to bed. I spent the transfer on his medication and food . I also bought a cow that is about to calf to increase milk supply in our home and pay off debts.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Part of my roof leaks in water during rainy seasons, thus this money will enable me to renovate the roof as well as install ceiling boards in my house. I also intend to buy a dairy heifer costing $200 that will be a source of milk for my family consumption as well as income in future when it multiplies. I will then save the remaining part of my transfer to buy nutritious food for my spouse who has been ailing from stoke for the last 7 years.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I spend most of my mornings indoors taking care of my sick spouse. The only time I get to go out and interract with my neighbours and friends is usually in the afternoon which is the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse has been ailing from stoke for the last seven years, a condition that has paralised our family developments. We require lots of money to manage his condition, more so in ensuring he gets healthy and balanced diet as well as paying his medical bills. I am too old and weak to engage in income generating activities such as casual jobs, hence we fully depend on my son who is a security guard to support our family needs. This is the biggest hardship we face.
