After spending both the first and the second transfer on all the goals that I had set aside, I am glad that all went through and have brought great transformation in my household. The whole process made me believe that all can be possible and at the moment I am doing everything with an open mind. Currently, I have a new goal to venture into poultry farming as an income source. I had been doing a small scale but the outcome has never been impressive as I had been selling a few eggs at a time. I now have a plan to construct a better chicken coop design with better space even though will limit their stray movement as well as having a designed structure to lay eggs on, waterers and feeders installed, chicken wire all around, corrugated tin roof, and also a raised chicken wire floors that ease cleaning by letting the chicken droppings fall onto the foldable and mobile floor covers. Even though its establishment might be expensive, I am positive that the outcome will be easier to manage and profitable once I usher in all the chickens that have been sleeping in my small kitchen.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a great job in our village and even in other villages that it has been before ours. I am glad that they were open to everyone in explanation of the program details and knowledge conveyance right from the Baraza, in-house visits, registration calls, and even follow-up calls after the transfers. I was also impressed by the encouragement on the wise spending as this was taken seriously as evidenced by the outcome. We were enrolled without bias giving residents a chance to drastically improve their living standards. On the other hand, I still feel that some households were left out of the program based on the neighbors' reports on the owners' availability. Many had been suffering within the village for a long time before GiveDirectly came in and had no better options other than moving to the nearby towns where they would spend weeks and even months doing the casual jobs to earn a living. On coming back, they could not meet the five days a week criterion that was required by enrollment officers. An independent investigation by GiveDirectly without having to rely on the villagers would have given these people a chance to once again come back to the village where they could once again start a new life.

The first transfer that I received from GiveDirectly not only brought transformation in terms of new assets in my household but also opened up my mind to think wide and be able to plan ahead and even take investments risks. The second transfer as well came in to enhance the realization of all that I had started with the first transfer. I am glad that the small piece of land that I had started paying is now fully paid after I made the last deposit of KES 10000 out of the second transfer. I have been able to fence all around it with the poles and barbed wire that I purchased at a total cost of KES 15950. I am glad that my livestock has an extra field to graze on now, and can till the former grazing areas to plant some crops in the next season. I spent KES 4500 of the remaining amount on paying labor charges that worked on the fencing, bought dry maize grains that we had been using as foodstuff at KES 3300, clothing for my children and my pair at KES 1750, tithed KES 5000 to the church, and used the remaining amount on deworming my livestock, and the purchase of other household items. I am grateful for all that I have been able to do in the past few months since I received the transfers from GiveDirectly and hope to see more improvement in our living standards.

I was from the farm heading home when I heard people whispering that they had received their transfer, I never bothered with them because I thought maybe they are just pulling our legs, when I reached home I then checked my phone just in case I will see any Mpesa message, I was overwhelmed with happiness when I saw a message notification confirming that I had received money from GiveDirectly, it was a day like no other, I knew that I will be able to acquire a piece of land that I have been waiting for. I was so grateful to Almighty God for the wonderful blessings that came my way that morning.

The biggest difference in my life today is that I will no longer worry about where my cows would be grazing , This will also mean peace of mind because I will not be renting apiece land so that the cows can graze. GiveDirectly has helped me in achieving a dream that I had in a short period, with this parcel of land I am certain that milk production will increase because the animals would have enough to eat. I am grateful for the support that has amazingly lifted my life.

The transfer came as a relief in my life, I am a farmer and a mother of two, I used to rent a piece of land so that my cows would get a place to graze, this was expensive for me due to financial constraints, my husband works in the tea estates though what he earns is not much. When I received my transfer I used KES50,000 in purchasing a parcel of land so that I would have a place where the animals can graze freely. I am so happy now because I have a piece of land where they can move freely. I am thankful for the support that has lifted my life tremendously.
