How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it was before I began receiving money from GiveDirectly since in the past, I was living in a small and pathetic house which I felt uncomfortable to host visitors in. At the moment, I am building a big house which will go along way in helping me host my visitors comfortably without feeling ashamed. Secondly, when I received the first transfer, I was able to see dentist who extracted my three teeth that had been causing pain to me. I am at the moment well and greatly relieved of teeth related pain.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I think GiveDirectly does well in sending direct cash to us through phones. This has helped to reduce cases of someone trying to steal from us since no one knows when the money is sent to us. However, I think that there is nothing GiveDirectly does not do well since it has really helped us. GiveDirectly should just continue to help more people just like it has helped us. I am very thankful for your work.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on buying soil, iron sheets and cements for building a new and spacious house. Previously, I was living in a small and leaky house. Having a new spacious and three bed roomed house in the village, will earn me more dignity and boost my self esteem especially when I am paid visits by my relatives. The three bed-roomed house will enable me to accommodate my grandchildren when they visit me, something I could not do before GD visited and sent me money. I thank God for the good work done by GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a parcel of land.Later on, I plan to construct a permanent house for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after finishing my work in the farm.I manage to relax as i share stories and the evening meal with my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I have faced is not being able to attain a title deed for the parcel of land that I am currently living in. For a very long time, my sons and I have been living in constant fear of being evicted from our current place of residence. This is because the purchase of land had been linked with so many irregularities which has made transfer of ownership to be very difficult.
