Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my cash transfer I was so happy and excited because I have never received such a huge sum of money before.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that in the past I only ate once a day and sometimes slept on an empty stomach but with the cash transfer I am now able to eat at leat twice a day and I am so grateful..I also eat whenever I am hungry as compares to the past.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to procure building materials such as ironsheets, wires and nails..I intend to improve the roof of my house since I already have a house but I had a problem with the roof due to insufficient income. Secondly, I managed to purchase 4 bags of maize so that there should be enough food in my household..I think the maize will be enough up to next year since I only live with my granddaughter..I spent an approximate amount of $80 on the maize that I bought. Lastly, I bought agricultural materials such as fertiliser and seeds..I only bought 2 bags of fertiliser since I have a small piece of land and I will apply in my maize field..I spent about $150 on fertilizer.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
When I get the money, I will buy food. With my health and age, I am unable to farm and harvest well. So I rely on buying food all the time. I will also buy fertilizer so that I have good yields next year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
There has not been any thing happy in the last 6 months.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am old and a widow, and my body is weak. I have a bad foot and that restricts my movement. With shoes I am able to walk and pick firewood and sell to find money for basic needs. I mostly depend on my grandchild who at times comes to cook for me and fetch me water when I am not well. So for the greatest part, my health is my biggest challenge. From it, I lack a lot of household and basic needs.
