As per now,my life has really changed. I used to sleep on a traditional matt that was infested with bedbugs that could bite me the whole night and could result to discomfort. I also used to suffer from back pain infections. Being a poor man, it has been a great challenge to afford good medical attention as a result of that. Now I sleep comfortably in a mattress with back pain no more. I was also living in a poor conditioned house, and this resulted to being a laughingstock amongst my kin. Now I have built a big house, I have gained personal dignity amongst my people. My home is also fenced and iron gate installed for security purpose.

GiveDirectly has given people equal mandate to access money that they are free to spend depending on their needs demand. People have bought items that they could have not possessed in their entire lives. I also realized that every body deserve a better life and can do great things ,only that they lack money. For the first time in my life, I have witnessed that people could manage to pay school fees for their children without arrears. The impact will be realized years to come, when the children who shall have benefited from the transfer shall initiate development in our community after their education. The part that GiveDirectly needs to improve on was the way of enrollment. There were cases whereby some people could not be enrolled because they did not belong to any household yet they deserved. Sometimes you may have a daughter who separated with her husband or even divorced but took full responsibilities for her children, but they were denied chance of enrollment.

I spent my second transfer on building a new house. The first house I was living in was small and in poor condition, that could not accommodate my visitors. Whenever my sons in-law visited me, they could be hosted in my brother's house which was against our cultural norms. Now that I have built a spacious and decent house, I am now able to host my visitors as per my wish. I also bought a mattress of high density and two blankets which I could only see in the neighborhood. Sleeping in a comfortable bed was a dream to me. I had never known that I could enjoy the comfort of a mattress. My bed was comprised of a matt made from papyrus which was uncomfortable.

The biggest difference is my compound is now well fenced and my livestock are safe from predators and theft. This makes me a happy man and cannot wait to receive the second transfer.

I am the happiest man on earth after receiving the transfer. I have made advancement in my life and my projects that had stalled.

I spent my money to fence my compound to prevent my livestock from roaming outside my compound and keeping them safe from predictors.
