Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is getting better because I am in the process of constructing a standard pit latrine which will promote sanitation and hygiene in my household . Secondly, I have already procured materials for constructing an iron roofed house. Currently, I sleep in the grass thatched house and I am using a pit latrine that was not at the standard I wanted. I now see my life moving to the next another level because of what I am doing with this transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer, I became so happy. I thanked God and asked him to continue blessing GiveDirectly. I keep praying for this organisation and the staff every day.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for digging a pit latrine at UGX 400,000. I bought 10 iron sheets at UGX 650,000, 2 trips of bricks at UGX 460,000, a bed, bed sheets and a mattress.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means improved standard of living. I will build a permanent house that will relieve me off the burden of looking for grass for thatching my house every year. The time that would be wasted will be spent on other productive work like farming and money that would be spent every year will be saved for other household problems.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is after lunch. I am happy a round this time because I am satisfied, energized, strong enough to plan and ready to take on any other household work. I spend some minutes to plan with my spouse what plans to cling on for the rest of the other part of the day and part of tomorrow, that makes me a happy person.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of a reliable source of income is my biggest hardship. I own very little land which is not enough to cater for large scale farming that would generate enough produce and income towards household sustainance. This leaves my household with little income that can not sustain household needs.
