How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
These transfers have made it possible for me to clear my children's school fees for the year which gives me a lot of relief. Four months ago, my children still had a lot of arrears in their respective schools and I was constantly worried about how I would raise the whole amount required to clear the fees on time. Pooling together the transfers we earn as a family made it possible to raise a good amount that when I combined to my savings was enough to clear all the balances. I am quite pleased and less stressed now because I have a chance to start saving for one of my children who will be joining high school next year.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a child in her final year of primary school and will soon join high school. I will require a good sum of money to buy the required items for her enrollment and admission to the new school that she will join, so I need to prepare in advance. I have decided that I will be saving the rest of my transfers, now that I have cleared all the fee arrears for the other children to make it easier for me because I will only need to raise a little more to pay for what she will require. Another reason I have decided to save is that I am well aware that the transfers are soon coming to an end and I will no longer have this beneficial support that has been of great assistance to me over the last one and a half years, so planning and saving will be of great help.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Ever since I started receiving these transfers, I have always used them to pay school fees for my children in college and high school. This has hindered me from investing in any other visible project for anyone else to see, but personally, I have witnessed a huge financial relief because I get assistance in paying the school fees. This has reduced my struggles and stress t raise the money on time from my regular sources of income.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would really like to plaster my house which is currently in a semi-permanent condition, but because of the responsibilities I have on paying school fees for my children in high school and college, I have to put this on hold first. This means that in the next six months, I do not expect any physical changes in my life, but a lot of emotional peace having enough money to pay school fees for my children through the savings that I am planning to start making from the transfers.

Currently, I do not have to rely so much on my business profits to provide for my family. With the transfers, I can do monthly food shopping to last us through the month and then commit my other savings to other projects. I also ventured into livestock rearing to help in raising income for my family when we have any financial constraints. My children are also in school studying without the fear of being sent home from school to clear any outstanding fee balances. I am forever grateful to GiveDirectly!

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The other difference is that I have been able to pay school fees for my children in time. I used to struggle to keep up with paying fees for my children with my little income from supply business. Due to many family demands, I could not pay fees in time and my children were being sent home for the same regularly. Since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to use part of the transfers to pay school fees for my children. I am glad the major part of their arrears is settled and they are rarely sent home for school fees.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I wish to buy cement and sand which I will use in plastering my house. This is because of the rains which weaken my walls and the mud falling off. I would want to handle the issue once and for all by plastering my house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is that I no longer go borrow money from our table banking group to pay school fees for my children. I used to struggle to pay back a higher amount of money when settling the loan from the group. This is because in most cases when my children were sent home for school fees, I would not be having money to pay at that time. This is the reason why I always choose to borrow from our table banking group at an interest. Since I started receiving the transfers, my group officials have been asking me why I no longer go for loans. I thank GD for this.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I want to ensure I pay school fees for my children. I would not want my children to be sent home every now and again. This has affected their performance negatively and I want them to have the best and take maximum time and study in school.
