How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal was to buy cement bags to plaster my house since I have completed the building aspect. I'm so thankful to Give Directly for empowering me to build a modern House in this village. I couldn't believe that I, Paul Togba building such a beautiful house in this village because I was a very poor farmer that used to depend on only farming to feed my family. Even at times, things became very difficult for us. Most especially during and after the COVID 19 virus subsided. But thanks be to God for Give Directly program that has transformed people lives most especially me. I'm so happy for the family of Give Directly. you are number one and you will always be number one in the world.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes my new plan I had was to buy cements, nails, planks and other materials to compete my house. I started my house project from the first and second transfer of cash that Give Directly gave us. I am so thankful to Give Directly for giving me a better life in this village. Could you imagined a very poor farmer building a modern house in this village, I'm so full of joy for this Give Directly cash transfer program. This program has saved us a lots and has helped us to better off our living conditions. My family and I, are so happy for this program.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I started constructing a building before receiving this money and one thing that I never had on my mind was plastering it but because I received this money I have also included it in my plan.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own mind GiveDirectly is doing well because for me I do not have the upper hand and now I am receiving this amount of money as a help to me and my family, I believe that GiveDirectly is doing well. In terms of not doing well I have not seeing it.

I am buying cement to be able to plaster my house after duping it and also paying my children tuition with some of my second transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Being a subsistence farmer who hardly realize products of several farms made over the passed years is of no easy task. In 2000, I built a house made of mult and taches which made life unbearable for my family and I because of the leakages during every rainy season... I had no means of gathering cash to build my dream house with corrugated sheets at the mentioned time. Said house was delapetated and we finally got it down in April 2021 to construct a building with a corrugated sheets. I have began the project from the sale of garie , fufu , pepper and few cups of rice from our farm . The sales of the above farm products allowed us to purchase four bundles of corrugated sheets in four years and have had it placed on the roof of the new house under construction. I will definitely use any unconditional cash transfer from Givedirectly to purchase cement and other constructional materials to make my dream comes through thereby building a modern apartment.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy seeing all of my children healthy and happy regardless of the struggle. As long as my family are able to accumulate and eat healthy food on a daily basis, I always feel relieved . Children are my greater worry ever and their happiness allows me to feel like a king as well , even though I am a struggling father who every activity as it relates to the accumulating of food and cash depend on farming. Furthermore, the ongoing construction of my new house is actually a dream come through that pepetually put smile on my face every morning as I gather and glimpse the ongoing construction.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My challenges are numberous ! I have to use my bare hands in making every farms for my family every year to be able to put food on our table ... To accumulate school fees for my children is so difficult because I depend on the limited farm products to accomplish all of our expenses on a daily basis. There is a little child with me by name Prince Wesseh Togba who I adobted when his mother passed away from illness in 2009. Prince Wesseh Togba was a year old baby when his mother Esther Polegbe passed away . I have to use the limited resources for my home to pay his school fees as well because of the sorrow and empathy. These are so challenging moment for my Madam and I every year .
