How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes. I have a new goal that I didn't have before receiving this transfer. That goal is to rebuild my house with cement block. Throughout my life I've lived in a mud house. Additionally, there is no concrete house in our village (with the exception of the mosque). I've set a goal to become the first person to live in a concrete structure in this village. This will also be a legacy for my children to live on.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
"GD does well in giving money to people who are the least in society. They don't consider some people more important over the other. Even the poorest man is threated wirh the same respect as the richest man in the town. Imagine an old man like me...as poor as I am. Prior to GD coming to Boe town, I used to sleep on mat. I could not afford even the cheapest mattress. Today, I can gladly tell you that I am now confortably sleeping on a mattress that cost sixty United States Dollars (US$60) [abiut $10,200LRD] I have never seen or observed or heard about anything the GD does not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used a portion of my last transfer to build flush toilet for my family. All my live I've used the bush for latrine. I am now old. My wife too is very old to go in the bush to "ease herself [toilet] ". Furthermore, there's only one pit latrine in this village (owned by the entire village). The latrine is no longer fully functional. So I used a considerable portion of my 4th transfer to build a flush latrine. I also gave a portion of my transfer towards the education of my two grandsons who are currenrlyc schooling in Monrovia with my brother.. There're both in 6th and 8th grades respectively. They both were put out of school due to failure to pay their tuition on time.
