How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because we have a new and better house. Accordingly, it is now relatively easier for me to maintain my house and keep it clean. This dream could have taken more years to be attained if not for the financial boost from GiveDirectly
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in the way it approaches recipients directly through door-to-door visits rather than relying on our local leaders to attain information on who would benefit from their programs. This offers equal opportunity to everyone by avoiding any instances of favoritism, nepotism or discrimination. As a result, I find that virtually everyone in the village received the transfers. Thus, I find nothing that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer as follows: a. 21000 KES on acquiring timber to be used in building our new house b. 16240 KES on purchasing 28 pieces of iron-sheet c. 3000 KES on buying the sheep that we keep d. 2300 KES on acquiring maize to be consumed by my family f. 4000 KES on hiring a carpenter g. 800 KES on purchasing cement that would be used in constructing a stand for the water tank g. 1500 KES on buying nails h. Finally, I spent the remaining amount on purchasing sand and ballast to be utilized in plastering the floor of our house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been desiring to buy another land in a productive area. The land in which we are in is not productive enough and now that I will receive money from GiveDirectly, my dream will soon be fulfilled.

The biggest hardship I have faced in life is lack of School fees. My intention was to pursue with my education to tertiary or University level but my parents were unable to raise School fees and thus I ended in Primary level.
