My life is different in that I have enough water for household and livestock use and I no longer walk for long distance to fetch water hence I can spend most of my time in my farm. The water is also clean and has reduced the risk of getting water borne diseases. I also have enough milk for my family since I used part of my transfers to buy a dairy cow. In the past , I have been buying milk and this was costly and I can now save the money that I could have used to buy milk and use to meet other family basic needs. Give Directly does well by alleviating poverty through unconditional cash transfers and also the enrollment process was fair. I do not see anything that Give Directly does not do well.

I used my second transfer to buy a water tank for storing water for use during the dry season. I opted on this because for many years I have been walking for a long distance to fetch water during the dry season and this was hectic and could waste most of my time. The water was also not safe for drinking and increased the risk of getting water borne diseases. I also used the remaining amount to pay my school fees since my husband could not raise all the money as he depend on the little money he get from casual jobs.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the freedom that the transfer has brought me. I could not leave the compound due to the demands of rearing livestock : fetching water, looking for hay and milking at the right time. My brother in-law will attend to the livestock so that I can go back to school. We plan to spend the second transfer on my tuition fee. There is no more excuse for me to stay home so as to tend to the cattle due to lack of fee. GD funds will set me free and enable me to further my education. Laughs... At first, I did not believe it. I kept staring at the confirmation message of receipt of funds in disbelief. I saw the notification at around 6 AM . I was so happy we even jumped in our house with my family because of excitement. I then ran to my grandmother's house to check if she was sent the funds too. She had. I spent the first transfer that I received from GiveDirectly on a water storage tank of 3000 Litres capacity. We normally have water problems. We travel for up to 24 kilometers to fetch water. It takes three hours to and fro. The tank will help us to harvest rain water and save us the time and energy expended in search of water. I also bought clothes and food.
