How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has really changed as compared to how it was before I started receiving the transfers. This is because I used to rely mainly on my farming activities to earn an income and even sort my children's school fees and this was never enough. I used to strain and on several occassions, I was overwhelmed. But thanks to GD's support I have been able to meet all my household needs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done so well in the improvement of individuals livelihood. The poverty levels have slightly gone down as you can see may households engaging in business and the number of school-going children has also increased as compared to previously that they nearly a hand full.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I paid school fees for my children. This was what was pressing me at that particular time. Besides[aying the school fees, I also bought foodstuff for my households and clothes for my household members.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I had lacked personal items and household items which I now have.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy. I was able to acquire my bed and some household items that I did not have.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer I received to purchase a set of sofas, a table, bed, and clothes that was amounting to KSH 25,000. The remaining amount I settled a hospital bill for my dad and paid school fees for my younger sister.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy furniture for my house and the remaing amount will be spent on buying a motorcycle so that can start a transport business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when I go out to play football with my friends. This makes me happy as I am able to forget about my problems.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is that I had trained as a mechanic at a local polytechnic and I have not managed to secure a job hence I am forced to do casual jobs that do not pay very well.
