How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed because the transfer I got has uplifted me. This is in form of the land I got to farm on and the one I will use until my money paid back. Prior to getting this transfer, I had no land to farm. The only land I have is where my house is and I always had to hire farm land on which I had to cultivate.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving me money. l see nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to hold on to land at Ugx 790000. I bought a cow at Ugx 360000. I spent some money for hiring farm land at Ugx 200000. I bought some household items such as solar, radio, and feeding.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is, I have enough land to farm on because I managed to get some land and paid off a debt which my land was used as collateral security. This has brought happiness in my household because there will be good security in my home. Prior to getting this transfer, I did not have enough land to farm on therefore I could work in people's gardens in order to give a small portion to farm.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had just finished to have a bath planning to go to bed. Then my phone rang with a notification of cash transfer from GiveDirectly. I immediately informed my spouse and we both happy because it was unbelievable.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I loaned out some money in return of a piece of land which I shall cultivated until my money is paid back. I spent some money on clearing debts and bought a solar system.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to contruct an iron roofed house. This is because the thatch house I am sleeping in right now has become expensive to maintain due to limited availability of thatching grass. If I realise some balance, I will buy two cows for my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wakeup very okay without any sickness. I know I will be able to do my normal days work and help my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced im my life is constant headache which stops me from doing my normal days work so as to feed my family. Doctors say I have a lot of stress causing such headaches.
